Google Business Profile Chat Feature: Important Update

What's Changing?

Google will be discontinuing the chat functionality within Google Business Profile entirely. This means customers won't be able to initiate new chat conversations with your business through Google after July 15th, 2024. Existing conversations will continue until July 31st, but customers will be notified about the feature's retirement. As of July 31st, all chat functionality will cease.

What Does This Mean for You?

The good news is, customers can still find and contact your business through Google Search and Maps! They'll have access to your website link, business description, photos, and any other information you share on your Business Profile.

What You Can Do

• Download Past Conversations: If you'd like to keep a record of past chat interactions, you can download them using Google Takeout before July 31st.

• Explore Alternative Chat Solutions: We recommend considering other chat platforms to maintain communication with your customers. If you don't have one, we got you covered.
